Investigations of the hydration of dextran using an acoustic method*

Measurements of the velocity of ultrasound in alcohol-water solutions of dextran with molecular weights 40 000 and 500 000 in the temperature range of 10-35°C have been made. The values of the hydration numbers have been determi¬ned and it has been shown that hydration is independent of the molecular weight of the dextran.
